So, you have been invited to an interview for the SEN teaching job role. You might have prepared extremely well to answer the questions that are bound to come up. Have a strong portfolio
Have a good portfolio. What we mean by a good portfolio is, it should include all your credentials, degrees, achievements, and certificates. Also, add your teaching philosophy and well-written sample lesson plans. A good teaching portfolio also consists of different samples of assignments or projects that you have done. This will provide the interviewer with a glimpse of the kind of assignments you did during your teaching career.
Have concrete answers to tough questions
SEN assistant jobs are demanding. You need to juggle multiple tasks, and no two days will be the same. They may want to ask you some tough questions to get an idea of how well you will be able to perform as an SEN teacher. You need to answer those tough questions very concretely. You may be asked questions like-

Dress well and be confident
When you dress properly, you present yourself as a well-organized person who is ready to take action. Stay calm and composed during the interview. While you are not required to wear a suit, it is advised to dress professionally. Radiate confidence to display yourself as the best person to facilitate a special classroom.
Practice a lesson plan
During an SEN interview, you may be asked to create a new lesson plan. They will give you a topic to teach and tell you the age of the students you will teach. And, you will be required to prepare a lesson plan. Thus, it is good to practice creating a lesson plan. Even if they don't ask you to do so, preparing one out can will definitely help you. Besides, you can refer to this lesson plan when you are asked questions about teaching methods or activities you would use in the classroom.
