SUNY tuition measure a lift for UB

Tuition at public colleges and universities in New York will rise predictably for the first time ever and one local university is set to get $35 million in capital funding now that legislators in Albany have approved a tuition bill for the State University of New York system. The bill -- called the NY-SUNY 2020 Challenge Grant Act -- allows four-year colleges and university centers to raise tuition $300 per year for five years and increase out-of-state student tuition by 10 percent each year for five years.
